Technical Programme, Accommodation Information and Updated List of Participants (04/12/2010)

Dear Colleague

I, on my own behalf, and on behalf of the Organizing Committee of the 30th Annual Conference of the Society of Toxicology (STOX), India and Symposium on Strategies for Safety Study Requirements for Herbal Formulations, invite you to attend the event which is being jointly organized by Jamia Hamdard (Hamdard University) and STOX (India) at New Delhi on December 9-11, 2010.

This conference and symposium will bring together researchers from India and abroad and provide an opportunity of scientific discussion on emerging issues in the field of toxicology. The symposium which will be held concurrently will focus on safety study requirements and toxicology regulations for herbal formulations. The topic of Symposium is relevant to current emerging interest in herbal medicine all over the world and India is considered a leader in this field. This event will also be a learning experience for young toxicologists to interact with some of the stalwarts of toxicology who will grace the occasion. Overall, the focus of the Conference would be on the few themes such as:

Strategies for safety study requirements concerning herbal formulations

Use of herbals as therapeutics in toxicity prevention

Toxicological implications in GM foods

Regulation of nanomaterials with special focus on their toxicity

State of toxicology education in India

There will be sessions for keynote addresses, and oral and poster presentations on several contemporary themes.

Needless to mention that Jamia Hamdard is one of the pioneering institutions involved in teaching and research in toxicology in India. It has also a strong research base in herbal research. In the 21st year of its existence the University envisages to showcase this event and to celebrate its global alumni and their contribution to growth and popularity of toxicology.

The host city Delhi has a long history which is reflected in beautifully preserved monuments spreaded all over the landscape of the city. In October this year Delhi will be hosting the 19th Commonwealth Games and has prepared itself with all the modern civic amenities for the event.

I am confident that your participation will make the event a memorable experience both scientifically and personally.

Prof. S. Raisuddin
Organizing Secretary
