Faculty of Allied Health Sciences


Jamia Hamdard took the lead in starting Post-Graduate course in Physiotherapy and Occupational Therapy in North India in 1998. The courses were very well received and are in great demand. The Faculty receives help and active support from the renowned hospitals in Delhi for training the students, besides utilizing Majeedia Hospital. Separate building was built for the Faculty of Allied Health Sciences with the help of generous grant from the UGC.


The Faculty offers Masters and Bachelors programmes of study in Occupational Therapy and Physiotherapy,  B.Sc. (Optometric Practices) and number of job oriented diploma courses in allied health sciences.


Master of Occupational Therapy (M.O.Th.)

This programme is offered in the following two disciplines.

  • Orthopaedics
  • Paediatrics
Duration: Two years


Total Seats: 06 in each discipline (Inclusive of one seat reserved for NRI/ sponsored candidates in each discipline). An additional seat is available for foreign nationals).


Eligibility:

A candidate seeking admission to M.O.Th. must have:

  • Passed Bachelor of Occupational Therapy (B.O.Th.) from an institution recognized by Jamia Hamdard or University/ Institute approved by UGC securing at least 50% marks in the aggregate.

  • appeared in the Entrance Test conducted by Jamia Hamdard.
Selection procedure:

For admission to M.O.Th. programme, a written Entrance Test will be conducted. The question paper will be comprised of questions on basic sciences and occupational therapy subjects taught in B.O.Th. The selection will be made on the basis of the merit determined by the marks obtained in the written test only.

For admission against the NRI/sponsored seats, written test is not required.


Master of Physiotherapy (M.P.Th.)


This programme is offered in the following disciplines.

  • Osteo-myology
  • Cardio-pulmonary
  • Neurology
  • Sports Medicine

Duration: Two years


Total Seats: 08 in each discipline (Inclusive of one seat reserved for NRI/ sponsored candidates in each discipline). An additional seat is available for foreign nationals.

Eligibility

A candidate seeking admission to M.P.Th. programme must have:

  • passed Bachelor of Physiotherapy from a University recognized by the UGC or the Institution recognized by Jamia Hamdard securing at least 50% marks in the aggregate.

  • appeared in the Entrance Test conducted by Jamia Hamdard.
Selection procedure

          For admission to M.P.Th. programme, a written Entrance Test will be conducted. The question paper will be comprised of questions on basic sciences and Physiotherapy subjects taught in B.P.Th. The selection will be made on the basis of the merit determined by the marks obtained in the written test only. For admission against the NRI/sponsored seats, written test is not required.


Bachelor of Occupational Therapy (B. O. Th.)

Duration: Four years + six months compulsory internship


Total Seats: 25 (Inclusive of seats reserved for NRIs. Additional seats are available for foreign nationals)

Eligibility
A candidate seeking admission to B.O.Th. must have:

  • passed Senior Secondary (12th Standard/ntermediate) examination with Physics, Chemistry and Biology from Central Board of Secondary Education or any other examination recognized by Jamia Hamdard as equivalent thereto securing at least 50% marks in the aggregate of Physics, Chemistry and Biology.

  • not more than 23 years of age on October 1, in the respective year.
  • appeared in the Entrance Test of Jamia Hamdard.
Selection procedure


          For admission to B. O. Th. programme, a Combined Entrance Test for Bachelor programmes (CET ) will be conducted to test the knowledge of the candidates in Physics, Chemistry, Biology and General Awareness. The standard of questions will be based on the qualifying examination i.e. Senior Secondary/ Intermediate. The selection will be made on the basis of merit determined by the performance of the candidates in the written test only.

For admission against the NRI/sponsored seats, written test is not required.

Diploma in X-Ray & ECG Technology

Duration: Two years


Total Seats: 12 (Inclusive of seats reserved for NRIs.Additional seats are available for foreign nationals)

A candidate seeking admission to Diploma in X-Ray & ECG Technology must have:

  • passed Senior Secondary (12th Standard/Intermediate) examination with Physics, Chemistry and Biology from Central Board of Secondary Education or any other examination recognized by Jamia Hamdard as equivalent thereto securing at least 45% marks in the aggregate of these subjects.

  • appeared in the written test conducted by Jamia Hamdard

          The candidates seeking admission to the Diploma in X-Ray & ECG Technology programme shall have to appear in the Diploma Entrance Test (DET). Diploma in Operation Theatre Techniques

Duration : Two years

A candidate seeking admission to Operation Theatre Techniques must have:

  • passed Senior Secondary (12th Standard/Intermediate) Examination with Physics, Chemistry and Biology from Central Board of Secondary Education or any other examination recognized by Jamia Hamdard as equivalent thereto securing at least 45% marks in the aggregate of these subjects.
  • appeared in the written test conducted by Jamia Hamdard. For admission against the NRI Sponsored seats written test is not required .

B.Sc. (Optometric Practices)

This is a unique programme being launched by Jamia Hamdard in 2004 in collaboration with renowned Venu Eye Institute and Research Centre, Delhi.  Teaching of students will be undertaken by both the organizations and during internship training of students will be imparted at different hospitals and outreach centers run by Venu Eye Institute and Research Centre



Duration : Four years including one year’s compulsory internship

Total Seats : 30 (Including seats reserved for NRIs/sponsored candidate).


Eligibility:

A candidate seeking admission to B.Sc. (Optometric Practices) must have:

 

  1. passed Senior Secondary (12th Standard/Intermediate) examination with Physics, Chemistry and Biology from Central Board of Secondary Education or any other examination recognized by Jamia Hamdard as equivalent thereto and secured at least 50% marks in the aggregate of Physics, Chemistry and Biology.

  2. appeared in the Entrance Test of Jamia Hamdard. 

 

Selection procedure

 

For admission to B.Sc. B.Sc. (Optometric Practices) II year through lateral entry

This course is designed for those who have passed Diploma course from a recognized institute in the Optometry or related subject. Student will get admission to the second year of the B.Sc. (Optometric Practices) programme.

Duration:    

Three years including one year’s internship for those candidates who have passed two years diploma course. The candidates who have passed three years diploma course are not required to do internship

 

Total Seats : 10 (Including seats reserved for NRIs/sponsored candidate).

 

Eligibility:
 

A candidate seeking admission to this course must have: 

  1. passed a Diploma in Optometry/Orthoptics/Ophthalmic Practices/Ophthalmic Techniques with 50% marks in the aggregate.

  2. appeared in the Entrance Test and/or Interview of Jamia Hamdard. 

Selection procedure

 

For admission to this course, entrance test and/or interview will be conducted to test the knowledge of the candidates in the relevant subject. The syllabus for entrance test will be of diploma course in of Venu Eye Institute and Research Centre.

 

For admission against the foreign/NRI/Industry Sponsored seats, written test is not required.
